New Version of the Keying Tool – Version 181 is now live!


Earlier today we released a new version of the keying tool. This release is sooner than anticipated but was necessary in order to fix a few arbitration errors.

During the release there were a few minor server difficulties that caused some issues in downloading the new version of the tool. The server issues have been resolved and downloading should progress smoothly when you open the tool.

The new version doesn’t appear to be working. I keep getting error messages and the WAP message boards are down also.

System.Xml.XmlException: ‘.’, hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1.

I’ve downloaded and run the update numerous times and I’m still unable to open the keying tool as the version is different to that on the network.

I have also tried re-downloading it from the link on the website and it still doesn’t work.

Can anyone advise????

I too am unable to install the latest update, it says it is downloading and then installing, then nothing happens after that. No programme, no icon anywhere.

Graham I’m glad i’m not the only one as its driving me nuts…..

I emailed support a couple of days ago but I’ve not had a response. When I do I’ll let the board know.

I had a funny ROFL error. I sent it in.

The error told me I “shouldn’t get here” — hehehehe.

I’ve been away for a week and hoped to get back to keying today, but when I clicked on the icon on my desktop, it brought up a message that there was a new “improved” version, so I clicked to “install” – I now have eight “set ups” on my desktop and still can’t open anything?? What to do??? BEE

The error message I am getting refers to c:\docs & settings\… localsettings\temporaryinternet\contentIE5\VZDVJPOS\instmsi30.exe not being found.
That file does not exist anywhere on my computer, NOR DOES IT exist on 2 other computers that are successfully running the World Archive Project.

Bingo!
I downloaded and installed Windows Installer 3.1
I then tried to install the Project Update again and this time it worked.

Worth trying!

Does any one know how I can confirm what keying tool I have. I’m not a techno person, but have a bunch of transcribing experience with the National Park Service. I know I hit the download button once but nothing appeared to happen and I can still key records. (I guess I’m the lucky one.) I just want to make sure what version of keying tool I have in case problems come up. Thanks.

I successfully downloaded the new keying tool but can only get 5 or so image sets to choose from–all are Italian. Where are the rest of the data sets?

I was attempting to download another set of records but as I was scrolling, the system took me to the New Very Difficult records in Sweden. And now I cannot send it back! I’ve highlighted the set and pressed the delete record button after it downloaded, but when I try to get another record it just brings up this Swedish record. I’ve sut down my computer after deleting, but that did not work either. Help!!!!

Have just started doing the Worl Archives project and some questions about the download I am doin need to know who to contact about questions on the Sydney and South Wales Index, they say to put businesses in one section but some of the names have a occupation not really a business so my question is what am I to do with it put it there or not please help me.
