New Projects!
Congratulations to everyone who worked on the Illinois Naturalization Indexes! It is now available to be searched on the site. This is the third Naturalization Index to go live, with 7 more ready and waiting. These projects were fairly large in scope so they represent a lot of time and effort in creating the indexes. And of course, they also bring great information to those searching for their immigrant ancestors. There has been some discussion regarding how the information is being represented in the index, mainly surrounding the State of Residence – we are working with our Content Management team on this situation. I will update you as I have more information.
Today we also released a new project to be keyed. I know we have had a lot of compelling projects in the recent past and this project definitely fits that bill – New South Wales, Australia, Entrance Books for the Vernon and the Sabraon, 1867-1911. It is interesting to read through the descriptions of the boys’ families and their situations that resulted in them being sent to either live on the Vernon or Sabraon. Refer to the help article to see examples of how these records are keyed, and if you want to connect with others keying this project you can visit the message board.
Happy keying!
Good to know that the state of residence issue will be fixed.
