New Project! MD & VA Naturalization Originals

Earlier this week we released the U.S. Naturalization Records – Original Documents, 1795-1972, aka Maryland and Virginia Naturalization Originals.   This project is similar to the other Naturalization Originals and is rich with information about the applicant and their family – including birth date and location, marriage information and children – so these records are a great find for researchers!

We are only keying the Petition for Naturalization and Petition for Citizenship records so you need to be alert when keying to pick out only the records that should be keyed.  Along this note you also need to watch for images that are obscured by smaller records – only the completely viewable record should be keyed.   And since the records are both handwritten and typed there is something for everyone.   The project is fairly simple but with the specific instructions regarding what should and shouldn’t be keyed it is rated as average.

For additional help you can view the help article which contains sample images marked with the location of where to find the information for most fields.

Enjoy and happy keying!
