Do You Have a Twitter Account?
If so, be sure to follow us – @WorldArchives. And, if you are around tonight join us for our first ever Virtual Keying Party.
We have held a couple of “in real life” keying parties here at Ancestry.com headquarters. And, we know that some groups and organizations are holding occasional keying parties as part of regular meetings or impromptu get-togethers. Our experience has been that this provides us with a larger sense of community while keying. It also gives us real-time access to each other – to ask questions, encourage one another, and maybe even engage in a little healthy competition.
So, tonight from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm Mountain Time (that’s 8:00 PM New York time or GMT+7) we will be testing out the idea of a “virtual” keying party using Twitter as our platform for communication.
Use the hashtag #awap to participate in and keep track of the conversation. Want to know what to tweet about? Here are a few ideas.
- Have a question about a record you are keying? Tweet about it.
- Downloading an image set and want to let us know what project you are working on? Tweet about it.
- Finished an image set and want to tell us how many records you keyed? Tweet about it.
- Done for the night and want to give us a total of what you accomplished? Tweet about it.
I think you get the idea. And hope to see you tonight. I’ll be there for all four hours keying and tweeting away.
For those of you who can’t join us this time, stay tuned. If it goes well I’m certain we’ll do it again.
Until next time – Happy Keying!
P.S. – If you haven’t yet registered to be a contributor to this great cause, you can do that and download the keying tool here.
Think i’ll check it out!!! Hope to see more folks there
