Milestone Worth Mentioning: 25,000 Contributors!
Moments ago we crossed a remarkable milestone. Just over a year after launching, the Ancestry World Archives Project now has 25,000 registered contributors!
For those of you who have just joined us. Welcome! We are happy to have you as part of this active community.
You may not know that every record indexed is keyed independently by two individuals and discrepancies between the two are arbitrated by a third. In the past year this community has keyed over 24.7 million records. And a total 8.8 million records have completed arbitration, including six different record collections that are now available on Ancestry.com for free to everyone!
New York Naturalization Indexes
England and Wales Criminal Registers
Lübeck, Germany Marriage Banns
Ontario, Canada Marriage Registers by Clergy
If you are wondering where to start or what to key, may I suggest you read Stefanie’s Ancestry.com blog post about Naturalization Records. These are fairly simple (and fun!) records to index and a great way to get started.
To all of you please accept my sincerest appreciation for the efforts you put forth to help preserve these valuable historical records.
Until next time – Happy Keying!
It is quite impressive that there are 25.000 contributors. How many of those are active keyers?
The original images of the last two collections listed here, are still not yet accessible to active contributors.
