New USHMM – UNRRA Project Ready to Index
A new United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM)* project is now ready to index.
USHMM – UNRRA Dodecanese Islands Mission
This new United Nations Relief and Rehabilitaion Administrations’s (UNRRA) collection contains records relating to work with refugees and Displaced Persons after World War II in the Dodecanese Islands. The Dodecanese are a group of 15 large and 150 smaller Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.
All images with names of displaced persons and their families should be keyed. Documents will include lists, memos, letters, and travel pertaining to displaced persons will be found in this project. Most letters are in Greek, accompanied by an English translation. Other European languages like German and French may occasionally be included.
All instructions and sample images are found in this article. Questions, and other comments can be posted on the message board.
*The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is the United States’ official memorial to the Holocaust. The USHMM provides for the documentation, study, and interpretation of Holocaust history.
