June is off to a good start…
June is a great month! We are starting the month with three new projects which will be followed by 4 projects going LIVE throughout the month.
Our new projects are, West Yorkshire, England, Prison Records,1801-1914, Georgia, Control Register of Convicts, 1817-1976 and Pennsylvania, Genealogical Scrapbooks and County Ledgers.
- West Yorkshire, England, Prison Records,1801-1914 is a collection of prison records. We are keying both records of convicts and officers. This is an easy project, rated average due to the handwriting, that I expect will move quickly. Please post questions or comments on the Discussion page or this message board thread.
- The Georgia, Control Register of Convicts, 1817-1976 collection is keeping up with the prison record theme. The unique item about this project is that we are keying line numbers for each record so we can match the right and left sides of the pages, reviewing the keying samples will help in understanding how this should be done. Please post questions or comments on the Discussion page or this message board thread.
- And the Pennsylvania, Genealogical Scrapbooks and County Ledgers is a different project than many we have done recently. It is the card index with only one record per index generally the Surname that is associated with the entry in one of the scrapbooks or ledgers. Please post questions or comments on the Discussion page or this message board thread.
The first of the four completed projects went live yesterday, England, North Nottinghamshire Register of Voters, 1885. This was a smaller project – 51 contributors indexed the 9000+ records. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcements of the next 3 projects going live. They will result in over 100,000 new records to be searched.
Thank you for your contributions to the World Archives Project and happy keying!
