The second week of December brings us two new projects!

Today we released Rhode Island, Vital Extracts, Church Records, 1636-1850 and New York, New York, Quarterly Abstracts of Seamen’s Protection Certificates, 1815-1869.

The Rhode Island, Vital Extracts, Church Records, 1636-1850 are a collection of vital records, for Rhode Island, taken from records kept by the churches.  They include birth, marriage, death, and other records.  We are capturing a lot of information so you will want to read over all of the fields and field helps before working on an image set.  (Just keep tabbing, eventually you will reach the end.)  The records are typed so they are easy to read and follow.  If you have questions about this project please post them on the Discussion page or this message board post.

And the New York, New York, Quarterly Abstracts of Seamen’s Protection Certificates, 1815-1869 are a collection of lists of Seamen Certificates.  These records are handwritten but are generally easy to read.  If you have questions as you work through image sets for this project please post them on the Discussion page or this message board post.

Happy keying!

PS Thank you to all of the contributors who are testing these projects!

Where are the image sets?

Gretchen,
These again were somewhat smaller projects so most of the keying image sets have been signed out. I have reserved some to release for those contributors who are not able to key until the weekend. Watch for image sets to come available tonight and tomorrow.

Re Rhode Island Vital Extracts:
Do I create a record for marriage intention if there is a marriage date? Certainly if there is no marriage date but only an intention, I would create a record as “other”.
