  1. I love photo corner. I look forward to seeing the many different photos.
After the photo was taken I wonder what the children may have done. If they were releved the photo taking was over or ran around and burnt off some stored energy. I wonder what it was like for children in those days.
    Beauiful photo.

  2. My children’s father’s great grandparents were named Prange. They lived in Indianapolis. they were Irma Prange’s parents. She married a Rexroth. Any connection, James? I will write some more as soon as I look up my family tree site and get some details.

  3. There’s something intriging about the stern expressions on the faces in these old photos. The subjects had to hold still while the photo was being taken but I imagine the married couple became quite giddy and silly once the photo was over. The kids too. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Irma Prange was born 1899. Her father was Anton Prange-he was born in West Phalen Germany Feb 1869. He came over to US 18 Sept 1888 along with a Christ. Prange. Christ. Prange was 27 and Anton was 18. Anton married Emma(don’t know her maiden name) She was born in Indiana but her parents were from West Phalen Germany. On the immigration records and passenger list I cannot read much more than Christ…something.

  5. Kim – There is very little doubt that we are somehow related through the Prange name. My great grandfather, Christian Prange, who is shown in the photograph, was born in Indiana in 1857. He was the first Prange in my line to be born in this country. My Prange’s were also from Westphalia. Christian and Annina are buried in Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas.

  6. My great great grandfather was Henry Prange he also was from Indianapolis, In. 1890’s he owned Prange groceries downtown indy he is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery. My great grandfather is Elmer Prange and Grandfather is Paul Prange.

  7. Dear James
I can see the resemblance between you and your great grandfather. Please contact me regarding a 1963 high school project of Concordia alumni. Angela and I are spearheading it. It is not being done by the church.
