We are excited to announce that actor, author, historian and spokesperson Sir Tony Robinson will be hosting a series of exclusive family history events to mark the WWI centenary.

Sharing his fascinating perspective on history, Tony will be visiting local archives in Liverpool, Essex, Newcastle upon Tyne and East Sussex (full event details below).

With 2014 being the 100-year anniversary of WWI, Tony will discuss the importance of remembering our wartime ancestors, highlight some of the extensive military record collections available online at and help inspire local residents to uncover the war hero in their own family tree. He will also talk about his own family links to the Great War.

Each evening will begin with an introduction from a representative from the archive, followed by a brief talk from an Ancestry family history experts. Guests can then enjoy a speech and Q&A session with Sir Tony himself. There will of course be drinks and nibbles served too.

And did we mention that the events are completely free? Spaces at each venue are limited and will be allocated at random. Click here to register your details.

Spaces at these exclusive events will be in demand and entry closes at midnight on 14th August so make sure you get your application in ASAP. We will let you know if your application for a space on the guest list has been successful by 15th August 2014.

Would there be any chance of asking Sir Tony Robinson if he could launch our Portrush Heritage Group on the North Coast of Ireland? The venue is the Ramada Hotel, Portrush at 7.30pm on 29th September 2014. We are a group of people who feel passionate about preserving the North Coast including Dunluce Castle which Sir Tony will know all about. Our theme also is WW1 and we would be extremely grateful if you could pass on our request. My mobile number is: 07743 761596.

Due to four deaths of friends and relatives since June this year, my attention has been drawn away from your event in Brighton, which I would very much liked to attended.

I am wondering if you are thinking of holding anymore events like this and if you are, I would be very much obliged if you could let me know when they are, because I need more information on three of my relatives who apparently died in WW1.
Thanking you in advance for any help you may be able to give.
Kindest regards,
