Postcard Posers – July

Posted by Kelly on 20 July 2011 in General, Postcard Poser, Record Collections

Can you guess the location of this month’s postcard poser?  Hint: there’s a train station on the right side of the image but we’ve removed the name for obvious reasons!

For those who are new to this feature on our blog, every month we share a postcard-style photo taken somewhere in the UK. It could be a particular property, a famous landmark, or just a view of the town centre. All you have to do is tell us where the photo was taken in the comments section below.

OK everybody thanks so much for all your comments! Gillian was the first to get the correct answer – it is of course Putney Station and the top of Putney High Street.

We’re going to have to try something a bit harder next month – you lot are too good!

Putney. The main road does go downhill quite steeply

Didn’t have a clue as I have never been any where near Putney, but 100% sure it wasn’t York where I live. Thanks for setting the puzzle.

In the early 1970s, back in my student days, I lived in Putney. The shop to the left of the station (Taylor’s) was then a men’s clothes shop and I used to buy my two-tone flared jeans there. Purple above the knees, green below! Sad but true!

A2A docs has

Messrs A.W. Taylor and Co., 159 High Street, Putney, S.W

mentioned as part of the Cokayne (Ruston) Collection held at Northamptonshire Record Office.

It’s Sutton, Surrey. The pub on the left is now one of those funny named Smith & Jones’ pubs.

I will recommend not to hold off until you get enough amount of cash to order goods! You can just get the loan or just car loan and feel comfortable
