I thought this was meant to be easy. I cannot read it. Glad others can.

Charlotte Bronte- second line down living with Father.

To make bigger and legible right click on image to open in new tab, then you can enlarge and read.

Its interesting she has no occupation, so I assume that writing a hobby for her.

Charlotte Bronte.

It might be an idea in future to rename the file! I downloaded it to my PC because it was too small to see online and of course the filename has “Charlotte Bronte” in it…not exactly brain surgery! :)

You all got it right :-) I warn you though, tomorrow’s will be more challenging.

@Ant – perhaps the fact she didn’t insert an occupation ties in with her dislike of personal publicity, hence why she wrote under the pen name of Currer Bell.

@Lynn – thanks for spotting and will rename the file tomorrow!

Charlotte Bronte.

It’s a bit of a give-away if you right mouse click on the census page image and do Save Image As, then the name of the image comes up as:

Charlotte-Bronte_1851-Census3 !!!

Rather too easy. Charlotte and the Rev Patrick, her father, at the Parsonage, Howarth.
I did not realise, until researching on the net, that Emily had died in 1848, and Ann in 1849. Charlotte herself, died in 1855, whilst the father, Patrick outlived them all, by living until 1861. Rather sad. The parsonage is now a tourist attraction. Would be interesting to see the census returns for the property in later years.
