Who Do You Think You Are? Live 2011, London Olympia, 25-27 February. Find out more
People often talk about feeling down in January, after the festive period is over and there’s nothing to look forward to. Fortunately, anyone who’s interested in family history doesn’t have that problem. We’re already little more than a month away from Who Do You Think You Are? Live – the perfect tonic to those New Year blues.
You can rest assured that all of us at Ancestry.co.uk are working hard to make the show as exciting as possible. We’re the principal sponsor again this year, so we’re determined that it’ll provide more family history advice, exclusive opportunities and special offers than ever before.
Personally, I can’t wait. I’ve been at the show every year since it began and I always enjoy hearing your thoughts and family stories. This year, I’ll be hosting the ‘Getting started’ workshops at the Ancestry.co.uk Academy – I imagine I’ll get loads of questions from beginners keen to learn about their family history, so I’m already swotting up!
The Academy will also feature ‘Next steps’ and ‘Around the world’ workshops – for more experienced researchers – and an introduction to the new features in Family Tree Maker 2011. Plus, Tony Robinson will host a special talk on what Britain was like in 1911 on the Friday – I’ll make sure I have a seat for that one. You can download our guide to the show, with a full Academy timetable, from our WDYTYA? Live pages.
In-between my workshop slots, I’ll be on our main stand, number 616, meeting you all and helping with your research. We’ll be giving away a special goody bag for our members, packed with exclusive offers and other great treats.
I haven’t even mentioned our exclusive Scanning Service, Members’ Lounge, or the AncestryShop – look out for more special offers there. It all adds up to a can’t-miss show.
