MyFamily.com Launches Beta Version of SnapGenie

SnapGenieMyFamily.com’s newest product allows users to create a slideshow on the Web, narrate the stories behind each photo using your own voice, and send it as a link to your family and friends.

You just upload photos from your hard drive to the site and arrange the photos in the order you’d like. Then you’ll be prompted to call a 1-800 number and enter the pin number on your phone. Using the Record and Advance buttons that show up on your computer screen under the slide show, you can choose when to begin recording, advance to the next photo, and end the recording. Once complete, you’ll have a slideshow you can share with family and friends via email.

This product is currently in beta testing and MyFamily.com would love to hear what you think of the product when you’re done. Just click on the feedback link on the main SnapGenie page.

  1. This sounds good, but how will it work for people who only have access to dial-up internet service, and do not have a second telephone line?

What will the price be for this service?

  2. I too would like to find out how much it costs. I have subscribed to ancestry.com for about 6 years & find it very useful. However, I just have the basic US & UK subs. If I want to see anyting els, I have to pay an additional (at least) $100+! I love genealogy but being on S.S. does not give me a lot of money to spend on it. I am sure there are many people in my possition. I appreciate the fact that it takes a lot of time & money to manage & up-grade Ancestry but I also know you have millions of subscribers. A decrease in your fees would be welcomed by all! Thanks

  3. SnapGenie it totally free but does require that you have access to a phone (mobile phone, etc.) that is separate from your internet connection.

  4. This sounds like a great idea. Is it or will it be possible to link this site to a MyFamily.com “family” site?
