Era Allen and Arch Allen Contributed by Dia Bigler
Era Allen and Arch Allen (my great-great-grandparents), Hugh Bradshaw (an uncle with a “peg leg”), far right is unknown.
Photo was taken at Charter Lake, near Grand Saline, Texas. Era and Archibald are the parents of Peggy Allen Smith, my father’s (Cordell A. Smith) parents.

  1. I know how dangerous it can be to tackle a “Live Alligator.” As the mouth is not secured or tied, it appears tht this is not yer a dead alligator. Still, it took courage to even get around one and that show itself in the photo to me. A good subject for remembrance ot passing on in “fireside tales” to future generations.

  2. You have a very intersting photo. I am working on my family history and I enjoy photo’s of the history years ago. thank you for sharing this photo with us.
Any more that you may have I would enjoy you sharing them with me if you dont mind.
Again thank you for sharing this photo.
