  3. have some very close ancestors with the surname of Edwards.
I would love to have more information about these two men.

  4. Indiana and the Goodin surname both figure in my extended family history. Seeing that Bartram brothers’ photo was provided by Marie Bartram Goodin set me off on an extended search which already is turning up results. No Bartrams in my family, though, so far as I know.

  5. Loved the picture of the children. It would have made a lovely Norman Rockwell painting. The tintype of the two gentlemen is a real jewel for someone to have both great great grandfathers together in one picture is awsome.

  6. I always enjoy the photos but this time they did not show up in the email.

  7. Have the name Bartram as a last name and middle name in my previous family from England. My grt grandfather was named John Bartram Penson after his father and mother’s last name of Bartram. My grt grt grandfather came to Canada in 1871 and his wife & my grt grandfather came about 1873. Stayed in Canada in the Ontario area until his wife died in 1880. Family then came to Chicago and had lived there since then.

  8. My wife’s grt grt grandfather, Jefferson Clinton ARNOLD, also fought in the Battle of the Crater at Petersburg, serving with Company F, 27th Michigan Infantry, and was captured. He was held prisoner in Danville, VA, but was exchanged due to serious illness. He recovered and lived to age 75. I’m still looking for photos of him. Thanks for sharing these photos.

  9. I have Bartram in my family as a surname and they were from Germany. Marie, I was wondering where your family was from? Maybe we have ancestors in common. You can contact me at:

  10. Archibald Pope’s father, Silas, was a brother to my great great great grandfather, Josiah Pope. Their father was Poole Hall Pope.

  11. Looks like Edwards may have lost his right hand in the conflict? Get out your magnifier and check. He may have received some compensation for this if it is so.
