I printed the G-1041 & G-1041A forms and instructions but saw nothing about getting the reports on CD. They asked if you wanted it via e-mail or printed and postal mail.

I enjoy articles by Juliana Smith! However, I am given the usage jitters when I read "....as they will not be returned..."
It makes no sense to use "as" (meaning "while") in that sentence construction. Thank you.

My father-in-law did not use his birth name or the name he later went by when he filed his naturalization papers. How do I find his file? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your wonderful articles. I enjoy them.

I really enjoyed this article. I sent for a copy of the Alien Registration File for my great grandfather. It took over a year to get it, and when I got it, it was of such poor quality, I could barely read most of it, with a magnifying glass. I was so disappointed with it. I also sent, at the same time, for a copy of my grandfather's citizenship records, because I knew he had gotten his citizenship, and they sent me the records for someone else. He got his citizenship while living in KY in the 1920's, and I just didn't think it would be that hard for them to look up his name, etc. I will probably never get that one. They sent me a letter to tell me that my request would be put in with those that didn't take a long time, so I wonder how long it takes for those that "take a long time".

Thank you for this post! I have the index info for my great grandfather but was unsure how to find the actual record. Now I know where to go. I am one of those lucky people that will have to go the long way around. He was in Detroit!
