I don't where the idea of a grieving ghost roaming the halls of Castle Rising comes from, unless it's wishful thinking on behalf of the author. It's interesting that none of the websites which have been created specifically to tell the history of the castle mention the word 'ghost' — not even Wikipedia has sunk to such sensationalist nonsense.

And yes, as Tracy and Charles (above) have said, it's Castle Rising. DO try to get the name the right way round otherwise it makes Ancestry and the author look very silly, as if they didn't know what they were writing about.

This is a quite interesting story! Especially since I'm descended from both Isabella and Roger Mortimer. I really can't wait until I retire and am able to travel abroad more with all of the information I have gathered! Thank you.

Hello that was a great history of the above family. I am new at this and my question for you is how do you learn so much ? My mother and father are both decreased and I am guessing a lot esp.. on my father's side he died when I was 9- 10 yrs old. I am having a hard time finding his family but have got them back to VA so far. Again thank you for sharing

I really enjoyed reading your story. It was very well written; and kept me interested to the very end. Even though I'm getting older; it makes me wanting to go visit this castle. Thanks again, Kris, for a story well written.

Unfortunately you have the name wrong. This is Castle Rising in Norfolk not Rising Castle and the village is called Castle Rising.

Very, very well written.
I've only heard the story from Edward II's fictional point of view before.
Interesting take.
