The reasoning among the inner circle is this: If the Succession Law is passed then when the child gains the throne, there is a great possibility that there will already be another Queen Elizabeth reigning over another country. Thus- to avoid two different Queen Elizabeths William and Kate will forego the possibility. By the same token, the Name Kate (or its variations) will be avoided to that there is no re-occurance of the situation that arose when Queen Elizabeth became Queen that resulted in two Queen Elizabeths (Queen Elizabeth II and HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother). I'd go with Carole Diana Elizabeth (which would cover both grandmothers as well as two great grandmothers) and have her be known as HRH Princess Carole. Odds are that if the child is a girl she will not be known as Elizabeth or Kate- or any variations thereof.
