How do you compare? — Fun Facts!
Now that you have your results in hand and have finished reading all of the educational material, following the links to more resources, and deciphering your values, matches and ancestry, you may find yourself pondering such things as: ”I wonder if my stonemason ancestry could have promoted my welding instincts.” or “Are there any commonalities among people of such a large ancestral group?”
If you are one of those who love useless trivia and have been wondering what other I1 folks like to eat or what their favorite TV show is, you’ll get a kick out of the Fun Facts section of your See Ancestry results pages. Just for fun, we’ve selected several facts (attributes and favorites) for all users to answer about themselves. We’ll collect the data and display them for each user’s haplogroup so you can get a sense for how you match with others in the group. (An advanced feature allows you to see your facts compared globably with all people.)
Some really cool visuals have been incorporated in these pages for navigating and displaying the data. Pie charts incorparing associated colors are drawn rright before your eyes to show your answer relative to others. A bar graph is used for last name, paternal origins, maternal origins, cuisine, and TB show where more than 15 answers may apply. A quick link to your answers allow you to modify your answers as needed.
When walking my blue-eyed husband through this section of the site, our conversation went like this:
Larry: “My eyes are blue, I bet this is also the dominant eye color of I1’s.”
Wendy: “Quite possible. Do you think there are any amber-eyed I1’s?”
Larry: “I guess not, but there is at least one grey-eyed I1. hum…I wonder if he’s on my match list.”
Now, is there any correclation between these attributes or favorites and the ancestral grouping? Likely not, but it’s pretty fun to play with these Fun Facts, nonetheless!
